Drew Card - Co-Founder / Creative Director

Drew began 3D graphics programming as a student at the University of South Carolina, where he graduated in 1998 with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. While attending graduate school in Computer Engineering, Drew was lured out of academia by a close friend to join the search engine start up 2wrongs.com. Drew helped 2wrongs get up and running as their lead programmer before moving on to pursue a career in 3D graphics programming.

During the summer of 2000 Drew began working at ATI Research in Marlborough, Massachusetts and eventually found himself in the 3D Application Research Group working on tools and demos to showcase the second and third generation RADEON video cards. At ATI Drew was the original lead programmer and designer on RenderMonkey, ATI's shader development software, where he lead the team through the first year of development.

In late 2002 Drew moved west to pursue his dream of programming in the video game industry. He joined Westwood Studios as a graphics programmer on Earth and Beyond, but the stay at Westwood was short lived. Just three months after arriving, the doors were closed on Westwood's Las Vegas studio.

After his short time at Westwood, Drew was quickly snatched up by the talented team at Oddworld Inhabitants and began working on the critically acclaimed Xbox title, Stranger's Wrath. At Oddworld he developed the in-game effects system working closely with the lead real time artist.

In 2005 Drew and his wife Rachel returned to South Carolina to settle down and be closer to family. He reunited with his college mentors and became a part of their team at IDV (the creators of SpeedTree) working on a scientific visualization application called Eye-Sys.

In January of 2006, after months of lobbying his wife and a brief stint playing high stakes online poker, Drew took the plunge and started Void Star Creations. His goal with Void Star is to grow a thriving development studio where a small highly skilled team creates innovative games that are first and foremost fun to play.
